New Super Eagles coach appoints his assistants

  The next super Eagles head coach will be handed the responsibility to pick his own assistants.

 It is understood that this move is to ensure there is harmony as well as loyalty in the technical crew as often appointed assistants have been known to try to undermine their principal.

 The NFF plan to name a replacement for Jose Peseiro next month in time for two crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin in June.

  Tuesday was the deadline for submission of applications from qualified coaches.

 Yusuf and Daniel Amokachi have also thrown their hats in the ring, Yusuf assisted Gernot Rhor for several years, while Amokachi was beside Stephen keshi when Nigeria last won the AFCON in 2013 in South Africa.

 Former Cameroon coach Antonio Conceicao is also interested in the Eagles top position.
